What Has Passed

Rough the flower is when trampled
that cannot form the petals round,
no more make the scene of beauty,
  the symbol of renown.

But though I love the beauty
  untouched and pristine,
I still see in the broken color
  a sense somewhat unseen.

What is crushed once was full,
and what is dead once did live,
and it is not for us to say
"The dead have nought to give."

  1. The brown and fallen petals definitely do replenish the soil for the next season of beauty! The bees were sure happy this spring! So many rhododendron to feed from. Once the dahlias bloom the bees will be happy once again. Truly, they’re happy every year!
